Tips for Installing Hardware Knobs and Pulls

A great way to give cupboards and cabinets a fresh new look is to update your hardware knobs and pulls. Knobs and pulls come in a plethora of shapes, colors, styles and materials, including glass, wood, sterling silver and brass.

It’s not hard to install knobs and pulls; all you need is some very basic handy work skills, an eye for alignment and a ruler or measuring tape, pencil, and screwdriver or power drill.

Choose the right knobs and pulls for your cabinet, and make sure you order the correct number – there’s nothing more frustrating than discovering that you’re short and need to order more.

Using a pencil, mark the position where your knobs and pulls will be installed. A knob should be installed at least 1 inch from the edge of a door and should sit within the bottom third of the door. Use a ruler to help you place the Amerock cabinet knobs in the same position on each door.

Remove any splintering from the door or drawer before you start screwing or drilling. Make sure you screw or drill very lightly and slowly so that the cabinet doesn’t buckle and be careful not to over-tighten the screw.
